Mozambique is a country located in Southeast Africa off the Indian Ocean coast. The sovereign state is separated from the Comoros, Mayotte, and Madagascar by the Mozambique Channel to the east. The capital and largest city is Maputo.

Mozambique has discovered massive natural gas resources from its offshore basins and is expected to be the fourth largest natural gas exporter around the world.

Mozambique is heavily reliant on oil, gas and petroleum derivative imports due to a lack of domestic refining capacity. As a result, the country is constructing its first refinery, to be fed by crude supplies from the Rovuma and Mozambique Basins.
