In July 2020, SpaceX purchased 2 ultra-deepwater semi-submersible rigs (8500 and 8501) from Ensco/Valaris for $3.5 million each. The rigs were purchased by limited liability corporation Lone Star Mineral Development. Elon Musk plans to build “floating, superheavy-class spaceports for Mars, moon & hypersonic travel around Earth.” SpaceX’s Starship offshore platforms are modified oil rigs now under construction to provide a sea launch and landing pad option for their second-generation launch vehicle: the super heavy-lift Starship system, consisting of the Super Heavy booster and Starship second stage. Tiger Offshore sold (1) DNV47.5 bbl Fluid Transport Tank to SpaceX to use as a diesel fuel tank for a back-up generator on the rig. Pictures here show the actual tank and the proposed modifications we are making to convert it to a true “double walled” fuel storage tank. Also shown are the Ensco 8501 or “Phobos” launch pad before and after conceptual rendering of what it might look like. By Paul Fussell, Corporate Sales Manager – Tiger Offshore

Tiger recently implemented their own version of a Lean Process known as “6S”, in most circles of industry and manufacturing, that is a systematic approach to workplace organization. Tiger has taken it a step further by adding a crucial element of “SAFETY” to the program. This is now known at Tiger as the, “Geaux Tiger 6S Program.” The six steps/pillars of Geaux Tiger 6S are: 1. Sort 2. Set in Order 3. Shine 4. Standardize 5. Sustain 6. Safety The program was rolled out in the first of this year. The plan is designed to help reduce clutter in the workplace, place things in designated areas, promote good housekeeping, standardize our way of daily work routines, build a plan to sustain what we have set in place, and most importantly work and keep our areas and people SAFE! Geaux Tiger is about efficiency, competitiveness, and survival. It is a deceptively simple system that creates an organized and productive workplace. It’s not just about cleaning up and eliminating unneeded items. Geaux Tiger creates a workplace environment that can adapt and succeed. Chaos and unproductivity are your enemies; organization and efficiency are your allies. If implemented correctly and followed diligently, Geaux Tiger will lower cost, improved quality of operations, improve safety, increase productivity and create higher employee satisfaction. Tiger launches the “Geaux Tiger 6S Training Program,” All of the Tiger branches were introduced and trained on how to make the Geaux Tiger 6S Program come together for each location. A strict timeline was established, and all the branches are well ahead of schedule for the upcoming year! Vast improvements have been observed upon regular site / branch visits that are conducted every couple of months. The process is already showing great signs of cost reduction, cleanliness and greater morale at all locations! We will continue to improve on all 6 Elements as we grow and move forward in 2018 and beyond!

Tiger Rentals continues to execute a successful Fleet Safety Program. Geotab Driver Scorecards are shared weekly, with each Tiger manager taking ownership of their drivers’ average score. This open-book approach to driving safety has created friendly competition between divisions and branches, with the ultimate goal being the safest group of company drivers on the road. The Smith System Driver Training remains a cornerstone of driving excellence at Tiger Rentals as we approach 700 completed on-road training sessions with Tiger HSE driving instructors. Don’t let the scorecards mislead you…perfection is attainable. Many Tiger Rentals company drivers have achieved “Top Driver” status on a weekly or monthly basis by exceeding 1,000 mi/week or 4,000 mi/month and scoring a perfect 100.0 score. In summary, the Geotab Driver Scorecard measures the behavior of company drivers and the Smith System Driver Training provides the knowledge and skills required to modify that behavior. An effective ONE-TWO punch!

Tiger Offshore Middle East (TOME) has been adding equipment to its fleet, including 12 Coast Guard tanks that were purchased from Tiger UAE. In early June, TOME received the anticipated purchase order for the rental of these tanks to assist the drilling and production efforts in Bahrain. We are also expecting to rent many 500 BBL fluid tanks to be used in the campaign there. Tiger Middle East has acquired over two hundred 500 BBL fluid (frac-style) tanks from Dragon’s used equipment and the Tiger KSA team has adapted them to the specific needs of the Saudi market. TOME has had great success in both selling, as well as, renting these tanks, due in large part to the industry’s recognition that Dragon’s used products are often preferred above newly fabricated equipment from competitors.

Just when we thought the worst was over after Harvey, Irma was waiting to follow close behind, reaching the top of the scale as it hit land with category five force. Hurricane Irma laid waste multiple Caribbean Islands before pummeling Florida. It was then that Tiger secured a huge contract with a major client to supply a large number of generators and rental equipment to power a major communications company in the State. Tiger moved swiftly, with all hands on-deck, to acquire rental equipment to fulfil the immense order. Everyone from sales to admins stormed the rental industry to obtain the generators needed to fulfill the order. Hurricane Irma severely weakened Puerto Rico’s infrastructure when Hurricane Maria hit the island with Cat 5 force. The disasters seemed to pile atop one another when Tiger rushed to secure another order to supply housing, power generation, fuel and more for the island. Working with the emergency response team, Tiger devised a plan to convert a supply vessel into a “Mobile Base Camp”. The supply vessel served a dual purpose for temporary housing and to ship consolidated equipment to San Juan. Items included: • Living Quarters • Containerized Laundry Unit • Cook, Galley Hands & Groceries • Generators, Lights & Transformers • Fuel, Tanks & Trucks • ECOmats & Rig Mats • All Terrain Extended Reach Forklift • Containers • Waste Equipment & Services • Cargo Transporters • Response Vehicles With all of the challenges behind us, even now – almost 3 months later, Tiger still has equipment and personnel on the ground in Puerto Rico! The success of this first-time adventure has proven once again that come hell or high water, Tiger will MAKE IT HAPPEN!
